Marco Polo Tower at Hamburg's HafenCity wins MIPIM Award 2010 

Hamburg's harbour is currently undergoing a major transformation. In future the so-called 'HafenCity' will form the southern part of Hamburg's inner city. The Marco Polo Tower with a height of 56m right next to the cruiser terminal will accommodate 58 high-end apartments and, on the entrance floor and the first floor, various public amenities. Using the design-ready concept, the apartments will be fitted out and furnished in keeping with the personal wishes of their owners. The floors vary in size and configuration responding to sightline criteria and ensuring that each apartment has optimal views either across the city centre or out over the spectacular harbour to the south. Generous curved balconies, terraces and loggias contribute to a dynamic external appearance. The Marco Polo Tower combines sophisticated living with a progressive environmental concept which includes, for example, solar cooling via sun collectors on the roof. 70 percent of the apartments have been sold and will ready for occupation by summer 2010. The residential property has now been completed.
