Yoo Berlin

Occupying the last of Mitte’s choicest downtown river front locations, yoo berlin is the newest, most prestigious address in the heart of the city. Mitte is the cultural, political and architectural heart of Berlin. Alongside the considerable investment in political institutions, infrastructure and business lies a vibrant arts and entertainment scene. yoo berlin's Am Zirkus 1 address is legendary and is the site of Max Reinhardt's ‘Grosses Schauspielhaus' theatre, where Marlene Dietrich and other international stars performed. From 1945 onwards, the building provided the location for the Friedrichstadtpalast revue theatre. Due to safety concerns for its foundations, it was demolished in 1985 and the site has remained an empty lot in the middle of vibrant Mitte. Now it is being brought to life as yoo berlin.

yoo berlin’s facade captures Berlin’s love affair with the dramatic. Within, yoo inspired by Starck designs juxtapose modern with classic, satire with passion and shape with form to create an extraordinary living experience. Rising ten stories above the Spree, yoo berlin’s playful exterior conceals two open air atriums within. In keeping with Berlin’s tradition of building iconic structures that have come to symbolise its emergence on the world stage as a nexus for German policy, culture and diversity, yoo berlin is another proud addition to the city’s significant architectural achievements.

The 10 storey building will contain 88 apartments with a choice of one to four bedrooms. Internal sizes range from 60.16 sq m to 286.22 sq m with additional balcony space; many have river views. There is a wellness/fitness centre, café and bar plus underground parking. Work started in July 2010 with completion due in Spring 2013.

Prices range from €270,320 to €2,890,000 (plus optional charge of €35,000 for an underground parking space).
