World’s Tallest St. Regis Hotel Opens in Shenzhen, China

Starwood Hotels & Resorts opened its tallest St. Regis property last week in Shenzhen, China, with plans to continue its global expansion in 2012. The St. Regis now occupies floors 72-100 of the landmark Kingkey 100 building, the tallest building in the city. Additionally, the hotel chain has plans to open three hotels and two resorts worldwide in the first six months of this year.

The St. Regis Shenzhen comprises 257 guest rooms and 40 suites that range in size from 131- to 1,066-square-feet. The décor is modern-meets-luxe with flat screen televisions, WiFi and 300-count Egyptian cotton linens. St. Regis also offers an in-room iPad 2 which guests can use to manage all of the room’s amenities such as temperature or TV controls and connect with other parts of the hotel. The 2,296-square-feet Iridium Spa is found on the 75th floor and features eight treatment rooms, two couples suites and a Vichy Shower suite. St. Regis’ spa also contains a 28-meter infinity pool adjacent to a wall-length window that makes it look as if the water is spilling out after the city. St. Regis Shenzhen also contains four bars and two restaurants. In addition, the hotel has 6,889-square-feet of event space for corporate functions or parties, including a ballroom. The Shenzhen property will also have the St. Regis’ trademark butler service available for all guests.
